The Sandhills Circle of the North Carolina Poor People’s Campaign will present Frederick Douglass’ address, “What to the Slave is the 4th of July?”
on Saturday, June 5, 2025 at 3 p.m. at the West Southern Pines Cultural Arts Center Auditorium (1250 W New York Avenue, Southern Pines).

The address was originally given at an Independence Day celebration on July 5, 1852. This event is family-friendly and free (donations are welcome).
